Ashley M. Lyle is so excited to be a part of the Obsidian Black Theatre festival in its inaugural year! Most of Ashley’s credits include The Mountaintop, Into the Woods, Merrily We Roll Along, Who Will Sing for Lena (earned a Wilde Award Nomination), House on Poe Street (earned a Wilde Award), Ain’t MisBehavin’ (earned multiple Wilde Awards), and most recently in the postponed production of Rules for Active Shooters.

Along with being an actor, Ashley is also a web designer with her own business called Sites By Lyle, LLC ( and an Anti-Racism Advocate with her organization called Black Literature and Art Queens Network (BLAQN, LLC, Her mission in BLAQN is to honor and acknowledge Black Womxn performers and encourage Anti-racism practices and policies in Michigan Performing Venues. BLAQN’s most recent work is the companion podcast, Black Queens on Stage, and it featured an episode called The Black Actors Conference. Another recent work is one she paired up with her partner, Dan Johnson (in Pappa Jennings), called “Toward an Anti-Racist Michigan Theatre”. A workshop for the Michigan Theatre community to bring Anti-racism practices into their theaters and make it a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive space for everyone.
