
Carollette Phillips
Playwright
A two-time recipient of the Louise Heck-Rabi Playwriting Award, Carollette has also received accolades for her work on stage and screen including, the Opificer Media Film Festival award for Best Actress and the Rogue Critic award for Best Lead Actress in a Musical. In the theatre, Carollette has performed in a wide array of roles including a recent appearance as Pumpkin in Paradise Blue by Dominique Morisseau (Detroit Public Theatre). She also landed a recurring guest star role on Comedy Central’s show Detroiters and has done a host of film and commercial work as an actress.
Behind the camera, Carollette has a variety of experience in production, including work for Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, MTV, PBS and Radio One. As a choreographer, her work has been presented at venues large and small such as Joe’s Pub at The Public Theatre of New York and The Wharton Center of Michigan State University. As the resident choreographer of Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit as well as the founder of the LSODance Foundation (www.LSODF.org) Carollette has also staged works at many Detroit venues including Music Hall, Little Caesar’s Arena, the Masonic Temple and the Detroit Institute of Arts.
