The inaugural Obsidian Theatre Festival was presented complementary  to the public and theatre goers across the country. In lieu of admission, attendees were encouraged to support one of the following three charitable organizations:

The DPS Foundation supports innovative learning opportunities, parent engagement, community outreach, and a focus on student appreciation of arts and culture.

The DPS Foundation is an independent 501c3 Michigan non-profit organization that creates
and enhances educational opportunities for Detroit Public Schools Community District students, families, and educators.

PROJECTART

ProjectArt is an award-winning national
nonprofit that empowers youth, emerging
artists, and communities.

 

Through partnerships with public libraries, ProjectArt’s resident artists teach tuition-free after-school visual art classes to nearly 2,000 children in under-resourced areas while developing new artwork in the library.

As members of the Black theatre community, we stand together to help protect Black people, Black talent and Black lives of all shapes and orientations in theatre and communities
across the country.

 

Our voices are united to empower our community through activism in the pursuit of justice and equality for the betterment of all humanity. We will not be silent. We will be seen. We will be heard. We are here. Join us.
